Every product in the Jerry universe came from one premise about a cat who kicked a carrot. The book shows how to test a premise before you build anything on top of it.
Systems, AI staffs, and the craft of building worlds out of thin air
By Shane Blanton
This is a book about the systems behind the Jerry universe. It covers how a small team and its AI staff turned one real cat into games, a website and a product line in about a week, and what the humans still had to decide. Jerry was not consulted, and he would like that on the record.
In development. There's no release date or price yet.
The Jerry universe is the case study, and the method is the subject. Each chapter takes one system the team actually used, shows where it came from and explains the rule it left behind.

The work ran on a few AI staffs with clear jobs and one person who decides. That turned out to matter more than which model was the smartest in the room.
Each problem was allowed to happen once, because the fix was written down the same day. The cat has never followed a rule in his life.
Nothing went public until a person said yes. Plenty of it came back with a note saying it read like a machine had written it, which was fair.

The research comes from Every Seat Filled, the Jerry Games podcast. Each episode puts someone who makes things from nothing on the couch, has them design a new Jerry and asks how their craft does what the book describes. The cat gets a seat at every recording, mostly because nobody has managed to remove him.

Book news, podcast updates and new Jerrys go to @jerrygameshq first. Jerry does not run the accounts, and he has asked that we stop implying he could.
